Pinecone Macro Research is a manifestation of advice from a mentor, an imperative to research and write for Chase's own process, and need to create a reference library that could be looked back on over time. Chase was an avid consumer of macro research and knew his work would be valuable to macro traders looking for something different. We aim to provide unique, well researched analysis of the global markets using a macro framework.

Meet Chase
Chase’s emergence in the financial world is much like a pine tree’s growth in rocky terrain. His passion for all things markets began during the 2008 financial crisis. He wanted to understand what exactly went wrong and why in order to avoid future disasters. His curiosity grew and over the next decade he taught himself macro investing through thousands of hours of reading and studying markets, history, politics, geopolitics, psychology, complex systems, and much more. After solidifying his process and style, he launched Pinecone Macro Research to share his views with like minded investors.
In addition to running PMR, Chase serves as the head of research at Bulwark Capital Management in Tacoma, WA.
Before finding his life’s purpose, Chase spent his formative years in the Air Force. His first work was on B-1 Bombers where he learned a systematic way to troubleshoot complex problems. Next, he worked as a geospatial intelligence analyst where he applied critical thinking to strategic and tactical intelligence problems where biases were too costly to ignore. These mental frameworks coupled with a unique focus on history, nature, cycles, and change informs Chase’s distinctive macro framework. He combines technical analysis, deep fundamental change detection, and sentiment/positioning analysis to uncover asymmetric investments.
